FAQs

How do I apply?

Applying for a loan with us is easy! Simply fill out our online application form or give us a call on 0800 799 799. To avoid any unnecessary delays, please provide your Drivers Licence and/or Passport. You will also need access to your bank account via internet banking.

How much can I borrow?

Friendly Loans can lend you $500 to $5000. However, approvals are always subject to your current income and living situation. We’re here to help; and, as a result, will only ever lend our customers monies they actually need.

How will I receive the money?

If we approve your loan, we will transfer the loan proceeds into your bank account overnight.

How long does it take?

If it’s your first time dealing with Friendly Loans, the application process usually takes between 1 to 2 hours (depending on how busy we are).

Does Friendly Loans run credit checks?

Yes! Friendly Loans always completes credit checks.

What if I’m self-employed?

Friendly Loans only lends to customers who are salary/wage earners or beneficiaries.

Do you lend to people on a benefit?

Yes! We lend to all people who regularly receive money; and, as benefits are typically consistent payments, they don’t normally have a negative affect on our approvals.

Will I have to use my car, or other assets, as security?

Friendly Loans offers both secured, and unsecured, loans depending on your needs.

Do you need to see my pay slips?

No! We’ll need to look at a current, 90 day bank statement to ensure our loan is a suitable option for you.

What if I get paid in cash?

If we can’t see proof of a regular income being deposited into your bank account, it’s very unlikely that we’ll be able to lend you money. This is because we’re a responsible lender that only provides monies to people who can afford it.

How do I pay back my loan?

All loans are paid back by direct debit. This occurs in line with your income payments.

What happens if I don't repay my loan on time?

If you fail to make repayments on time, you will have to pay the default fees indicated in your contract. We will send you notices reminding you that your payments are overdue and setting out what will happen if you fail to make repayments on time. We may be entitled to repossess the property which is security for your loan if you continue to default on payments.

What happens if I move address?

The contract you sign with us requires you to advise us if you move address. Please just call our friendly team and we will update your details.

Can I borrow money from Friendly Loans more than once?

Most certainly! However, you can’t have two loans at the same time. So, you’ll have to fully pay off your current loan before we can lend you money again.

Can I borrow more money next time?

It depends! All of our loans are dependent on your income. So, if this has increased since your last dealings with us, we may be able to lend you more. However, we also take your payment history and current expenses into consideration. This is because we’re a responsible lender that only provides monies to people who can afford it.

Do I have to keep using the same branch?

Yes! You’ll always need to make contact with Friendly Loans’ head office to apply for a loan facility.

Can I change my payment dates/amounts?

Yes! You can change your payment dates after speaking to one of our friendly staff. Simply give us a call on 0800 799 799 and let us know you’d like to change your current structure. We’ll do our best to help! If you need to make a payment after the final payment date specified on your loan’s contract, however, you will be charged additional fees (as per our terms and conditions).

What happens if I miss a payment?

If you miss a payment, we’ll advise you that you’ve dishonored your contract and discuss your options moving forward. In most cases, this simply involves rescheduling a payment. If you need to make a payment after the final payment date specified on your loan’s contract, however, you will be charged additional fees (as per our terms and conditions).

Will you send me to the debt collector?

Simply call us on 0800 799 799 and, together, we’ll find a suitable solution to your problems. If you don’t do this, however, you’ll leave us with no choice.
